Carbon black
Carbon black is a food additive derived from the carbonization and refinement of dried plants and shells. It serves as an insoluble coloring agent and is typically utilized in suspension form, functioning primarily as a masking agent. The primary component is carbon, produced through the incomplete anoxic combustion of various raw materials at temperatures ranging from 800 to 1000 °C. This substance exhibits stable performance under conditions of light exposure and high temperatures. Its significant hiding and coloring capabilities are attributed to its large surface area and unique surface adhesion properties. The density of carbon black ranges from 1.8 to 2.1 g/cm³.
